What is a roll-off dumpster?
A roll-off dumpster is a durable, open-top waste container that gets delivered by a specialized truck that rolls it off onto your property. These containers have wheels or casters designed to minimize damage to driveways and are well-suited for construction debris, yard waste, and extensive cleanout projects. What sizes are available?
Dumpsters are sized by cubic yard capacity. Standard residential options include: 13-yard dumpsters hold approximately 3 to 4 pickup truck loads and work well for small room renovations or garage cleanouts. 20-yard dumpsters hold roughly 6 to 8 pickup truck loads and serve as the industry standard for roofing projects, deck removals, and whole-home decluttering. 30-yard dumpsters are suited for substantial commercial construction, demolition work, or large-scale estate cleanouts. What items are not allowed?
Roll-off dumpsters are not permitted for hazardous materials. Items typically prohibited include liquids, paints, and oils; chemicals, pesticides, and asbestos; car batteries and medical waste; and electronics and large appliances in many areas. How do I choose the right size?
Select a dumpster that is slightly larger than your projected waste volume. Paying a bit more for a larger container at the outset is far more economical than overfilling a smaller bin and incurring costly overage or reloading charges. What factors affect the total rental cost?
Your total rental cost is influenced by your geographic location, the container size you select, the type of debris being disposed of, and the overall weight of the materials. Disposal facilities frequently charge additional fees for processing heavy materials such as concrete or dirt. Will my price change after the initial quote?
Your final cost may exceed the initial quote if you surpass the specified weight limit, retain the dumpster beyond the agreed rental period, or dispose of prohibited materials.Do I need a permit to place a dumpster on my property?
A permit is typically not required if the dumpster sits entirely on your private property, such as in your driveway. If you must place the container on a public street or alley, you will need to obtain a permit from your local city or municipal office. How should I prepare my property for delivery?
Clear the drop-off location of parked vehicles, low-hanging tree branches, and overhead power lines. The delivery truck requires adequate space for maneuvering. You may also place plywood sheets on your driveway to help prevent scratches from the heavy metal container. How full can I load the dumpster?
All debris must remain level with or below the top edge of the dumpster. If materials are stacked too high or extend over the sides, the driver is legally unable to cover and transport the load. How do I get the dumpster picked up?
When you have finished filling the dumpster, contact your provider to arrange for haul-away service. They will schedule a pickup within your service timeframe to transport the debris to the local landfill.
